Is Python a Meta-language?

lol working in Python a lot now is tickling my funny bone. I’ve always loved breaking out of Java with reflection. And when Aspect-Oriented Programming came along, I was in heaven.

But Python cracks me up. Most of the code I’ve been writing lately builds classes, introspects those classes to produce lists or dictionaries, and then feeds those artifacts to underlying libraries. It’s kind of like I’m not programming any more, I’m just writing code that iterates over itself and calls external libraries.

Basically, classes exist to group related data together. So Python is either a meta-language or else a really powerful configuration language 😉

OK, so that’s an exaggeration. Still, it cracks me up.
